HSE Supervisor

Role Context:

Worley is involved in constructing the first Giga Scale green hydrogen plant in Western Europe, with a start-up in 2026. With an ambitious ‘start-up’ client, this trail blazing fast track project needs professionals who can operate in an agile collaborative manner, at pace. With the green hydrogen industry in its infancy, leadership will be required to ensure this first of a kind plant is built safely, affordably and being easily replicable. As a result, an opportunity has arisen for a seasoned HSE Manager to provide Strong HSE Leadership to the Project Team through all phases of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

The HSE Supervisor will support the HSE manager and wider team with the planning, coordination, and implementation of effective HSE policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure all project objectives are met.

The HSE supervisor will support the project operation team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, and environmental issues. The supervisor will work closely with the Site HSE manager to ensure compliance with the HSE plan, ensuring that regular HSE audits are undertaken.

Wider support will be given usually to the overall project strategy to implement HSE initiatives and assist with developing HSE plans that are compliant with the company policies.

The HSE Supervisor will possess the ability to provide holiday cover for the HSE Manager

You'll be:

  • Supporting HSE Manager to conduct site visits/ surveys/assessments to verify that site conditions are following HSE requirements and associated standards.
  • Participating in internal and external HSE Audits according with company activities.
  • Participating in execution of HSE Risk Identification (HAZIDs, HAZOPs, SIMOPs) and ensuring implementation of controls about HSE risk exposure according with site activities requirements.
  • Compilation of site HSE data for Worley HSE reports.
  • Ensuring an effective emergency response plan implementation (availability and maintenance of equipment, execution of drills, etc.) for site activities.
  • Staying updated on corporate policies, procedures, laws and industry practices regarding HSE issues for implementation of site activities.
  • Promoting HSE awareness for site and contractor / sub-contractor staff, promoting full implementation of controls and compliance of HSE Legislation
  • On-site monitoring of employees and subcontractors
  • Reporting to the HSE Manager
  • Cooperation and support of the HSE Management
  • Monitoring of concepts, rules and regulations related to health and safety measures, health, and environmental protection
  • Monitoring and support of critical works
  • Site inspections
  • Coordination of safety-related documentation (risk assessments, job instructions)
  • Conduction of toolbox-talk, site safety meetings and safety related campaigns

You'll have:

  • Technically Qualified Professional – in HSE Preferred to have a Degree in relevant subject – HSE (or equivalent such as an appropriate NEBOSH qualification - Diploma)
  • Swedish / Finnish speaker
  • English language skills
  • EU passport holder
  • Considerable major project/operations experience – minimum
  • Relevant years working on major project construction sites – specifically in the HSE space.
  • Previous experience implementing a PTW system
  • Appropriate professional experience as Occupational Health and Safety Specialist on construction sites
  • Knowledge of local safety and occupational safety requirements
  • Skilled to write procedure, instructions, reports and maintain HSE documentation
  • Sound Incident investigation skills including developing reports.
  • Experience developing risk assessments, implementing controls and checking the implementation on site of safety rules defined in the risk assessment
  • Knowledgeable in high-risk activities such as Confined Space Entry, Hotworks, Excavations, Lifting safe systems of work etc.
  • Experience of working in the Nordic region
